Kyogen, the classical comic theatre art of JAPAN

He is a kyogen performer. The Kyogen is the classical comic theatre art of Japan. "Noh and Kyogen" called "Nogaku" are Traditional Japanese Performing Arts. It has been designated a "Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity" by UNESCO, and "Japanese Intangible Cultural Heritage". The Noh and Kyogen forms of Japanese theater were perfected during the Muromachi period (1336-1568). Although they evolved alongside each other, sharing various theatrical elements and being performed together on the same stage, they are separate forms. The costumes are beautiful but much less elaborate than those in Noh, and Kyogen Masks are simpler than Noh masks.
