Tango no Sekku

At the turning point of each season, various annual Festivals have been held in JAPAN from old times. 

May 5th is the day called "Tango no Sekku" that celebration for boys, national holiday in Japan. These are the main decorations for "Tango no Sekku". 

This custom was introduced by SAMURAI Tokugawa shogun. SAMURAI families used to display them to celebrate the birth of the boy baby. It's believed that they protect boys' health and happiness.
